Boston Red Sox Lose Extra Innings Heartbreaker

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

The Red Sox were unable to defeat the Yankees last night in extra innings.  In a night where Manny “Best Eyes in Baseball” took three straight strikes pitch hitting for the Sox, the Red Sox blew a lead and ended up with a series split.  Back to Fenway Park for the Sox.

Yankees Have Issues With State Farm David Ortiz/Babe Ruth Call Your Shot Promo

Monday, May 26th, 2008

According to the New York Times, the New York Yankees are taking issue with a State Farm “Call Your Shot” promotion scheduled to be held at the All-Star Game at Yankees Stadium this July.  State Farm has chosen Red Sox slugger David Ortiz to play the part of Babe Ruth and will attempt to predict which location he will hit a home run.

The promo is meant to pay homage to an urban legend where Babe Ruth is alleged to call his home run shot in the 1932 World Series.  Film of the Ruth at bat shows that Ruth did not call his home run.  The Yankees, MLB and State Farm may use a loophole in the contract to replace Ortiz or scrap the idea altogether.

Red Sox David Ortiz/Yankees Stadium Curse

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

According to Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Gino Castignoli, the Bronx Red Sox fan/construnction worker involved in planting a fascimile David Ortiz Boston Red Sox jersey into wet cement at the site of the new Yankees Stadium left an additional Red Sox artifact in the wet cement. The cement mason has told friends also laid an official program from the 2004 Red Sox Yankees American League Championship Series into the cement in addition to the jersey. The mason has also told frinds that the jersey and program are just the tip of the iceberg in regards to his efforts The 2004 AL Championship Series was the first instance of a baseball team losing a series when up 3 games to zero. Could that help explain why the New York Yankees are currently in the American League East basement? See the video from MSNBC.

Jason Giambi Wears Gold Thong Often

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

Former steroid user and current New York Yankee Jason Giambi has a superstition and rountinely wears a gold thong under his uniform when trying to snap out of a slump. He has loaned it to Jeter. Get ready for Giambi to backtrack on this or say he was joking or misquoted.

The Yankees are looking for unpaid volunteers to work some of the All-Star game festivities. Why is a multi-billion dollar enterprise looking for unpaid labor?

Ticketmaster Buys Online Scalper TicketsNow

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Ticketmaster to buy online ticket scalper Ticketsnow for about $265 million dollars.  Nice payday for the ticket scalper.  What is the real value here?  The scalpers, the tickets or the exchange?  Raises the red-flag of anti-trust, but the government will likely let the takeover occur and both companies will drag the other down.

Stubhub Organic Search Rankings

Monday, January 14th, 2008

Stubhub has some of the best seo rankings in the secondary ticket business.  I admire the way their home page not only has great eternal linking, I love the way they work in team nicknames.  They must be making fortunes off of Google and Yahoo traffic.   Stubhub also has some really great blogs here, here and here that are great for seo as well as being surprisingly informative.  Stubhub also has the pay per click areas of the search engines plastered, but they have such great organic results why bother with ppc?

Juno the Movie

Monday, January 14th, 2008

Juno is not good and is one of the most over-hyped movies of 2007.  Anyway, these movies are good, buzz-worthy and worth your time:  “No Country for Old Men,” “There Will Be Blood,” and “American Gangster.” One of these will be the best motion picture of 2007.
