After manhandling the Yankees the first two games of the series, the Red Sox blew a lead in the seventh inning to spoil a nice outing by Jon Lester. The Sox lost the third game.

There were a lot of great games played by these two teams in the old stadium.

The Red Sox and Yankees will meet again this year at Fenway Park September 26th-28th.

After winning the first two games versus the Yankees, the Red Sox had a great chance to take a third win last night with the bases loaded in the ninth inning with no outs, but the Sox were unable to get it done. The Sox are now four games out of first place, but there is half a season yet to play and it is very unlikely the Rays will be able to sustain their lead with so many games to be played versus the Sox and Yankees.

According to the New York Times, the New York Yankees are taking issue with a State Farm “Call Your Shot” promotion scheduled to be held at the All-Star Game at Yankees Stadium this July. State Farm has chosen Red Sox slugger David Ortiz to play the part of Babe Ruth and will attempt to predict which location he will hit a home run.

The promo is meant to pay homage to an urban legend where Babe Ruth is alleged to call his home run shot in the 1932 World Series. Film of the Ruth at bat shows that Ruth did not call his home run. The Yankees, MLB and State Farm may use a loophole in the contract to replace Ortiz or scrap the idea altogether.

The cement mason has told friends also laid an official program from the 2004 Red Sox Yankees American League Championship Series into the cement in addition to the jersey. The mason has also told frinds that the jersey and program are just the tip of the iceberg in regards to his efforts The 2004 AL Championship Series was the first instance of a baseball team losing a series when up 3 games to zero. Could that help explain why the New York Yankees are currently in the American League East basement? See the video from MSNBC.
